• Coldplay Play Other Band’s Tunes For Inspiration
Coldplay have revealed in the past that everyone from The Beatles to Jay-Z have inspired their music. Now they say that the song “Lost!” was inspired by Blur’s “Sing”.
Singer Chris Martin explains why this method works for them: “That’s often how we write. We listen to something and then we think it’s incredible and then we feel stupid for not having anything as good as them, so then we go and try to play it. And then of course, because we don’t really know how to play that, we often come up with something new."
• Chris Talks To His Website
Chris Martin recently sat down with Coldplay.com for an interview that reveals some details about the band’s upcoming EP, Prospekt's March.
Martin says they intentionally made extra songs while recording Viva La Vida so that they could later release this EP. He admits they were too shy to put the track “Glass of Water” on the album because it’s “a little heavier”. He says the songs on the Prospekt’s March EP are in the same family as Viva La Vida and he especially loves Jay-Z’s rap on the remix of “Lost!”
Chris adds he would someday like to open for Oasis as well as UK boy-band Take That and says they have big tour plans for the coming year.
